CCU observes Sexual Violence Awareness Week

Coastal Carolina University will observe Sexual Assault Awareness Week from Monday, Oct. 6, to Thursday, Oct. 9, with various programs and events designed to encourage discussion and promote awareness of sexual violence. All events are free and open to the public.

Events planned for the week include:

Monday, Oct. 6

* Relationship and Alcohol/Drugs Screening Day, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Prince Lawn

* "Got Consent? Forum, 6 to 7 p.m., Wall 118

Tuesday, Oct. 7

* Make a Poster for Take Back the Night, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Prince Lawn

* "How to help a friend who is a survivor of sexual violence," 4:30 to 6 p.m., Wall 211

* Take Back the Night March and Rally Against Violence, 6 to 8 p.m., begins at Blanton Circle and ends at Wall Building

Wednesday, Oct. 8

* The Clothesline Project, T-shirts exhibited that show support of sexual violence victims, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Prince Lawn

Thursday, Oct. 9

* Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN) Day, exhibit on topics relating to sexual violence such as stalking, incest, human trafficking, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Prince Lawn

* Human Trafficking panel discussion, 6 to 7 p.m., Wall 309
