CCU presents a World Music Ensemble concert

Coastal Carolina University's World Music Ensemble will present an evening of music from around the world on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. General admission is $5.

The concert will feature the popular CCU Steel Pan Ensemble performing works by some of the greatest Calypsonians of the last century, as well as arrangements of popular tunes.

The performance will also feature the CCU Afro-Cuban Folkloric Music Ensemble performing two different styles of Cuban Rumba, Guaguanco and Yambu. The Steel Pan Ensemble will also perform several songs written by Steel Pan Virtuoso Liam Teague, such as "Hands Like Lightning," "Pearls" and "Panoramic."

Student ensemble musicians include: Cailin Aucoin, Moses Ballard, Kyle Brewster, Natahn Culp, Bill Flynn, Tim Forline, Reginald Frederick, Kyle Hutton, Jamie Lindblade, Noelle Mason, Jasmine McCray, Wade McMillan, Anderson Owen, DeAndrae Preston, Micah Ray, Emily Rebechi, Johnny Richeson, Brandon Vaughn and Lee Willis.

Jesse Willis, assistant professor of music at CCU, directs the ensemble.

Ticket prices for CCU /HGTC faculty and staff are $4; CCU and HGTC students and children are $3.

Wheelwright Auditorium is located at 108 Spadoni Park Circle on the CCU campus in Conway.
