Athenaeum Press at CCU seeks projects for 2015-2016

November 13, 2014

The Athenaeum Press at Coastal Carolina University is seeking project proposals for development and publication.

The Press welcomes proposals from scholars, students and community members, and is especially interested in projects that involve community organizations or explore little-known stories of the region. The Athenaeum Press selects projects based on their potential for development by a collaborative team, their ability to be translated into multiple media forms and ability to attract both a regional and national audience.

Selected projects will undergo an extensive one- to two-year development process, during which professors from across the humanities and fine arts will collaborate with the project initiator and CCU graduate and undergraduate students to design, build and produce high-quality content in a variety of unique media formats.

Past projects have explored a diversity of topics, from a retracing of a 19th century explorer's journey down the Waccamaw River in a paper canoe to a collection of memoirs about Mickey Spillane, acclaimed pulp fiction writer, as told by his widow who still resides in Murrells Inlet.

Proposals should include a brief overview of the project, biographies of the contributors and names of collaborators within the community and institution. Proposals should also include a preliminary budget.

Please review the guidelines and submit proposals via our submission management system at athenaeumpress.submittable.com/submit by Jan. 9, 2015. Submitters will be notified of decision by Jan. 31, 2015. Questions may be directed to athenaeumpress@coastal.edu, or call the office at 843-349-5099.
