Embroidery, crochet and many other textile techniques are used to create artifacts relevant to Bergstedt's life. Figures of people are made from encrusted sewing notions. Buttons and deteriorating objects reflect her family history. Inspired by personal memories and experiences, her creations mend and alter the struggle of childhood.
"For several years, I have visually reconstructed memories, both of my family and people I admire, who were able to overcome great challenges," said Bergstedt. "Most of my stories recall intense childhood experiences. All my pieces portray people with whom I have a personal relationship."
