CCU Concert and Chamber Choirs to perform

April 14, 2015

"Isn't it Romantic?," a jazz concert performed by Coastal Carolina University's Concert and Chamber Choirs, under the direction of Frances Sinclair, will be presented at Wheelwright Auditorium on Monday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $5.

Season eight of this popular jazz concert will once again feature the Concert and Chamber Choirs performing favorite jazz standards along with more contemporary song arrangements. Student soloists will be featured in addition to the choral selections. Guest performers will include Dan O'Reilly on saxophone and Marc Chesanow on bass.

The CCU choirs will sing jazz standards such as "Don't Get Around Much Anymore," "Our Love Is Here to Stay," "Birdland" and "What a Wonderful World," as well as several jazz arrangements of contemporary pop songs such as "Wide Awake" and "Centerpiece." Student soloists will also perform classic jazz songs such as "Someone to Watch Over Me," "Witchcraft" and "Love Walked In."

O'Reilly, a CCU lecturer, is a saxophone player with an extensive performing background, including work with the Four Tops, the Temptations and Lou Rawls. He has also opened for nationally recognized artists B.B. King and the Doobie Brothers. Currently, he performs with his jazz quartet U-N-I and his blues band The King Biscuits.

Chesanow was a teaching associate at CCU for many years and is principal bass player for Long Bay Symphony. He is now chair of the department of music at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville, N.C.

Wheelwright Auditorium is located at 108 Spadoni Park Circle on the Conway campus. Tickets cost $5 for adults; $4 for senior citizens, alumni and CCU faculty/staff; and $3 for CCU students.
