CCU's discussion series to explore John Locke

Eva Kort, a lecturer of philosophy and religious studies at Coastal Carolina University, will discuss philosopher John Locke on Tuesday, April 28, at 5 p.m. in the Lackey Chapel. This event is free and open to the public.

The discussion will center about the "isms" -- racism, sexism and speciesism -- attributed to the 17th century English philosopher who not only helped found modern Western philosophy but also had a significant influence on America's founders.

Kort is a graduate of Florida University where she earned a Ph.D. in philosophy, American University where she earned a master's degrees in philosophy and social policy and the University of Kentucky where she earned a master's degree in anthropology. Her areas of scholarly specialization are ethics and modern philosophy.
