Coastal Carolina University alumnus Joey Trail '12 has been named Teacher of the Year for 2015-2016 by Horry County Schools.

The award was granted to the 7th grade English Language Arts teacher of Forestbrook Middle on April 28. Trail has taught in Horry County Schools for three years. He earned a bachelor's degree in English language arts and social studies from Coastal Carolina University.

"Students need to be the authors of their destinies," says Trail, who was also named Forestbrook Middle Teacher of the Year for the 2014-2015 school year.
