CCU will hold Sexual Violence Awareness Week
The week's events include:
Wednesday, Oct. 7
"The Clothesline Project," 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Prince Lawn. Students, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to design and hang T-shirts that display messages in support of survivors of violence. The shirts will be displayed in various locations throughout the week. T-shirts will also be available in the COAST office for students who prefer privacy.
"The Hunting Ground," 6 p.m. in the Lib Jackson Student Union Theater. This acclaimed documentary about sexual violence on college campuses will be followed by a faculty-led discussion sponsored by the Women's and Gender Studies Department.
Thursday, Oct. 8
"RAINN Day," (Rape Abuse and Incest National Network) is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Prince Lawn. An information station will display information about sexual and dating/domestic violence from RAINN.
"Take Back the Night" march and rally against violence, starting at 6 p.m. in the Lib Jackson Student Union outdoor courtyard/patio stage. Following an opening ceremony that will feature speakers and a performance by theater students, the march will proceed from the courtyard and end at the horseshoe in front of the Wall College of Business. Participants are invited to join a speak-out session following the march in Wall 309.
