UPSTAGE to present ‘Marisol’ at CCU

November 6, 2015

UPSTAGE will present two performances of "Marisol," an Obie Award-winning play, on Wednesday, Nov. 18, and Thursday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts Theatre at Coastal Carolina University. General admission is $7, with discounts available. The production is not suitable for those younger than 13.

Puerto Rican playwright José Rivera's "Marisol" is a story of a surreal journey filled with humor, pathos and the fear of imminent change. God is old, senile and dying, and he is trying to take the universe with him, which wreaks inexplicable havoc down on earth. Marisol's guardian angel leaves to lead a revolution of biblical proportion, and Marisol is left to navigate the inner-city wasteland on her own.
