CCU Theatre students mount ‘How to Succeed in Business’

February 3, 2016

Coastal Carolina University's Department of Theatre is mounting an eight-performance run of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" from Thursday, Feb. 18, through Saturday, Feb. 27, in Wheelwright Auditorium.

Winner of seven TONY awards and the 1962 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, "How to Succeed" is a Broadway musical by Frank Loesser based on the book by Abe Burrows, Willie Gilbert and Jack Weinstock. It's the hilarious story of J. Pierrepont Finch as he climbs his way up the ladder at the World Wide Wicket Corporation, instructed by the handbook "How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying." This satire of big business a la "Mad Men" is a send-up of 1960s' values in corporate America.

The show, directed and choreographed by Adam Pelty, assistant professor of theatre, features a cast of nearly 30 CCU students.

The leading parts are played by Guy Bannister (as Finch), Brian Bruno, Caitlen Patton, Noah Pelty, Laura Pierpont, Daniel Pippert, Phillip Rast, Keelin Sanz and Myisha Thomas.

The supporting cast includes Ethan Babson, Melissa Cabey, Gavin Carnahan, Sydney Copeland-Goodman, Christina Daves, Amelia Dobbs, John Dudley, Hannah Garmon, Emilee Hassanzadeh, Terrell Jones, Kelly Kapur, Sophia Kider, Tess Larchian, Riley Phoenix, Maggie Renfroe, Ben Southerland, DeJuan Thompson, Briar Presley White and Wes Williams.

The creative team includes Gregg Buck, Michael Gribbin, Matthew Holcombe, Brian Marshall, Kenneth J. Martin, Samantha Papp and Todd Wren.
