R&B and soul singer Elle Varner will perform at Coastal Carolina University on Saturday, April 16, at the HTC Center. The doors will open at 7 p.m., and the show will start at 8 p.m. Admission is free, but tickets are required.

The Grammy-nominated R&B singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist studied music at New York University and signed with RCA Records in 2009. She released her debut album "Perfectly Imperfect" in 2012, and it was ranked No. 4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 200. Her song "Refill" was nominated for a Grammy for Best R&B Song, and she was nominated for a BET Award for Best R&B Female Artist in 2013.

Essence Jennings, a senior majoring in psychology from Goose Creek, will perform as the opening act.

The Office of Student Life and the Coastal Activities Board are co-sponsoring the concert. The auditorium is located at 108 Spadoni Park on the Conway campus. Parking is free, and no permits are required. Parking is available at the HTC Center in Lot AA or in parking lots on Chanticleer Drive. The HTC Center is located at 104 Founders Drive on the Conway campus.
