Coastal Carolina University presented its 1999-2000 Staff Excellence Awards to Shirell Mishoe and Geoffrey Parsons for their exceptional service as university employees.

Mishoe, a Coastal staff member since 1976, received the Staff Excellence Award for Support Staff. She is administrative specialist in the School of Humanities and Fine Arts.

"Aside from having splendid work habits, a positive attitude and an authentic interest in helping the faculty, staff and students, she has humbly performed the increased duties this year working with Interim Dean Edgar Dyer," said Coastal President Ronald Ingle.

Parsons, a Coastal staff member since 1991, received the Staff Excellence Award for Professional Staff. He is assistant director of International Programs.

"He establishes positive relationships with peers across campus and is an effective problem solver," said Ingle. Parsons was commended for his continuous and unstinting attention to students' needs, and his willingness to take on extra duties for university projects such as the Celebration of Inquiry Conference.
