Horry County School Board chairperson candidates Mary Jane Duke and Will Garland will address significant issues facing public education as part of "A Forum on Education," scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in University Hall at Coastal Carolina University. The event, sponsored by Coastal's chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, is free and open to the public.
Among the issues the candidates will address are fiscal accountability, teacher recruitment, testing standards and charter schools. The candidates will also take questions from the audience.
Phi Delta Kappa is an international association of professional educators who work to promote quality education, with particular emphasis on publicly supported education.
