Once the shark model was complete, the students tested it in the flume.Vivian Turner is one of the graduate students involved in the research. The research involved testing a variety of materials to make the shark model.

This summer, a few Coastal Carolina University students as they did research on shark hydrodynamics. Their research might allow for underwater vehicles to operate more efficiently.

That work included creating a model of a shark that was as realistic as possible, which involved combining multiple areas of science, including computer science, biology, engineering and physics.

Recently, the students were able to test their robotic sharks, a lemon shark and a mako shark, in CCU's flow tank in the Environmental Fluids Lab.
