Grammy award-winning ensemble performs at Coastal Carolina University

January 16, 2003

Grammy award-winning vocal ensemble Chanticleer will perform a concert at Coastal Carolina University Thursday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. Tickets are $15 and free to students under 18.

Celebrating its 25th year as a world-class vocal ensemble, Chanticleer has earned international fame for its performances of choral music, from Renaissance masterpieces to contemporary gospel and jazz. The group is named for the "clear-singing" rooster in Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, and is not related to Coastal Carolina University, whose mascot is also the feisty fowl.

The all-male chorus performs more than 100 concerts a year throughout the world, appearing regularly in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Toronto, Tokyo and Paris, as well as in their home base of San Francisco.
