Coastal Carolina University holds auditions for musical

January 29, 2003

Coastal Carolina University will hold open auditions for its production of Songs for a New World, a musical by Jason Robert Brown, on Feb. 3 from 6 to 10 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. Anyone trying out should bring 32 measures (approximately one minute) of a song to perform. Sheet music must be provided for an accompanist, or participants may sing acappella at tryouts.

To schedule an audition appointment, call Greg London, director of the production, at 349-2505.

Songs for a New World explores human need and yearning as experienced by a variety of people throughout the 400 years since America was "founded" by Columbus. The songs weave in and out of various time frames, historical figures and every day people.

Performances will be April 4, 5 and 6.
