CCU's Center for Marine and Wetland Studies hosts lecture series

Coastal Carolina University's Center for Marine and Wetland Studies has scheduled two public talks as part of a lecture series. The events are free and open to the public.

- Wednesday, March 26

"Coastal Carolina University and the Waccamaw Riverkeeper: A Partnership for Watershed Education, Research and Conservation"

Coastal marine science and chemistry professor Susan Libes and Hamp Shuping of the Waccamaw Riverkeeper project will talk about how area citizens and agencies are working together to preserve the Waccamaw River basin.

The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room of Coastal's Atlantic Center, located on Highway 501.

- Monday, March 31

"Status of Sea Cucumber Fisheries in Thailand: Potential Impact on Reef Habitats"

Suchana Chavanich, professor of marine science at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, will discuss her ongoing investigations into the distribution of sea cucumbers in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea.

The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Wall College of Business Administration building, room 224, on the Coastal campus.
