Coastal student wins banking scholarship

Heather Martin has been awarded a Young Bankers scholarship to pursue her finance/accounting career in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration at Coastal Carolina University.

The $2,500 scholarship is given by the South Carolina Bankers Association to a business student who is active in student affairs and who is recommended by the dean of the business school.

Martin, of Conway, is a junior pursuing a degree in finance. She is a member of the accounting and finance clubs, a student member of the S.C. Association of CPAs and a member of the student working committee to raise money for an endowment to allow student clubs to expand their campus activities.

She has also been involved in the VITA (volunteer income tax assistance) program on campus. Martin has maintained a 3.48 GPA while carrying a full student load and working part-time at Conway National Bank.
