Coastal Carolina University will recognize some 500 candidates for
graduation during commencement exercises Saturday, May 10 at 9 a.m. at Coastal Federal Field in Myrtle Beach. May and August candidates will be recognized. The public is welcome to attend.
Robert W. Squatriglia, retiring vice president for student
affairs, will deliver the commencement address. Receiving an honorary degree
will be David Drayton, principal of Georgetown's Howard High School for 21
years; he will receive the Doctor of Humane Letters degree. The late civic
leader Ashby Ward will be given a posthumous Doctor of Public Service
degree; he died April 13.
In case of inclement weather, the commencement ceremony will be
delayed until 2 p.m. in the same location. If the threat of inclement
weather still exists, there will be an abbreviated ceremony at Coastal
Federal Field. Tickets are not required for the May ceremony. Notification
will be given via all local media channels on both TV and radio and will
appear on the Coastal Carolina University web site at www.coastal.edu
