Advisory board of Learning Society names officers

July 17, 2003

The Lifelong Learning Society at Coastal Carolina University has announced the election of officers for its Board of Advisers. Carol Rose has been elected president; Norman Whiteley, vice-president; and Curtis Harlin, secretary.

The new officers, who will serve for the 2003-2004 academic year, were chosen as part of the 12-member board's reorganization following the election of new board members Rocky Cartisano, Richard Hair and Curtis Harlin.

The Lifelong Learning Society operates under the Division of Continuing Studies at Coastal and offers cultural enrichment, social and intellectual growth opportunities for active adults in its region.

Members of the Society elect three members of the Board of Advisers each year for staggered three-year terms. The board oversees course offerings and overall management of the Lifelong Learning Society program. Membership in the Society, which offers a number of benefits in addition to discounts on course offerings, is open to all adults through the payment of an annual or one-semester membership fee. All voting members of the board must be members of the Society.
