4: 2: Five a cappella group to perform at Coastal

An a cappella group of five will be performing in concert at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 at Wheelwright Auditorium at Coastal Carolina University. The event is free and open to the public.

What used to be a street-corner barbershop and doo-wop group evolved into a fresh sound in 2000 and became 4:2: Five. Members are Earl Elkins Jr., James May, Layne Stein, Geoff Castellucci and "mouth drummer" Dave Baumgartner, a recent addition to the group, replacing Scott Porter who begins at Tokyo Disney in September..

4: 2: Five has performed around the country including at the Orlando International Fringe Festival and on radio stations. They also won Ed McMahon's internet-based talent search on Nextbigstar.com, and appeared on NBC's "Today Show" on a television commercial and more..

4:2: Five is currently in the studio working on their second album entitled "Unstoppable," tentatively set for release in early fall..
