4: 2: Five a cappella group to perform at Coastal

An a cappella group of five will be performing in concert at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 at Wheelwright Auditorium at Coastal Carolina University. The event is free and open to the public.

What used to be a street-corner barbershop and doo-wop group evolved into a fresh sound in 2000 and became 4:2: Five. Members are Earl Elkins Jr., James May, Layne Stein, Geoff Castellucci and "mouth drummer" Dave Baumgartner, a recent addition to the group, replacing Scott Porter who begins at Tokyo Disney in September..

4: 2: Five has performed around the country including at the Orlando International Fringe Festival and on radio stations. They also won Ed McMahon's internet-based talent search on Nextbigstar.com, and appeared on NBC's "Today Show" on a television commercial and more..

4:2: Five is currently in the studio working on their second album entitled "Unstoppable," tentatively set for release in early fall..

The concert is sponsored by Coastal Productions in the Office of Student Activities. Call 349-2301 for more information.
