Coastal holds review course for graduate exam

September 5, 2003

Coastal Carolina University is offering an intensive course on Saturdays in October to help prepare graduates to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).

The GRE Review Course is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25 in University Hall, room 228 on campus. The cost is $329, payable by Sept. 25. For Coastal students and alumni, the fee is $239.

The 28-hour-course provides thorough and in-depth coverage of the three main sections of the exam (verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and analytical writing). Diagnostic testing and practice exercises allow you to gain experience with each question type on the exam. Home-study materials are provided.

Study materials are designed and published by The Fairfax Lectern and include an in-class workbook with CD-ROM used in conjunction with the four-day instructor presentations. Coverage includes a full-length home practice exam for the final review.

Instructors are Missy Dausey-Lewis, who teaches English and the SAT review program at Aynor High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of South Carolina and a master's degree from Coastal. Jennifer Simpson is a recent graduate from Coastal with a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics. She is enrolled in the master of arts in teaching program at Coastal.
