Coastals Spring Festival designed for children, families

March 4, 2004

The second annual Community Spring Festival will be Saturday, March 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Coastal Carolina University. The event is open to the public.

Fun activities will take place throughout the day such as wacky golf, sand art, face painting, piata, hair wraps, basketball clinic, moon walk, international childrens games bingo, obstacle course, photo booth, palm readers and more. The event is sponsored by the Spadoni College of Education.

For a $2 fee, children may participate in all activities except the silent auction. The fee is for the reimbursement of Coastal students who have bought their own materials and supplies.

The festival is designed to bring children and families to campus for a day of activities that combine learning and entertainment. Most events will be in and around Kearns Hall and the Williams-Brice Physical Education Center. Signs will direct participants to the site.

Community agencies, members of Coastals football team, basketball team, cheerleaders and the Chanticleer mascot will all be on hand. Coastal students in the Spadoni College of Educations teacher education and health, recreation and physical education programs organized the festival activities. A complete list and time of events can be accessed at www.coastal.edu/education.

Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the College of Education student organizations community service and outreach projects, a scholarship fund and faculty research and teaching initiatives. The auction will include such items and packages as hotel getaways, restaurant dinners, golf packages and more; bidding will go on throughout the festival and will close at 2:30 p.m.
