CCU Verizon Math Contest set for March 26 on campus

The 25th annual Coastal Carolina University Verizon Math Contest will be held on Friday, March 26. The purpose of this event is to stimulate interest in mathematics among high school students. Approximately 280 students from 24 South Carolina schools along with teams from Tennessee and North Carolina will compete for awards and prizes in two levels of competition.

Additionaly, Coastal Carolina University offers a four-year scholarship to the Horry County senior who has the highest score on the upper division test and elects to attend Coastal and major in mathematics.

The event begins at 10:15 a.m. A trivia contest will be held at 1:45 p.m. followed by an awards ceremony at 2:15 p.m. in the Wall Auditorium. Media representatives are invited to cover the event.

The following high schools will take part: AC Flora, Andrews, Aynor, Ben Lippen, Carolina Forest, Carvers Bay, Conway, Creek Bridge, Crestwood, Dobyns-Bennett (Tennessee), Eau Claire, Emmanuel Christian, Goose Creek, Hemingway, Hoggard (North Carolina), Lakewood, Loris, Mullins, Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Socastee, Spring Valley, Summerville, Waccamaw, Wando and Williston-Elko.
