Michael S. Glaser, former poet laureate of Maryland and author of seven collections of poetry, is professor emeritus at St. Mary’s College of Maryland where he received the Dodge Endowed Award for Excellence in Teaching. His presentation will explore how poetry (his own and others’– including the poem he wrote about Henrietta Lacks for a medical ethics conference) can help us hear our inner, values-based voice and how the concept of social justice is interwoven with living authentic, ethical lives.
This session is co-sponsored by the Jackson Family Center for Ethics and Values, the Department of English and The Big Read. For more details about this event, please visit www.coastal.edu/jacksoncenter and www.facebook.com/jacksoncenter.
