M.S. Information Systems Technology Summer Launch

Coastal plans to launch an M.S. in Information Systems Technology this summer, a new 100% online degree that will prepare graduates to design, evaluate and implement secure technology systems and infrastructure in a variety of organizational settings. "Information security and data analytics are high-demand fields right now," said computer science department chair, Will Jones. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall expected national job growth will be about 25% over the next decade. "The career opportunities are substantial," he continued, "our graduates will be ready for successful employment as information and data security professionals." Job titles could include Information Security Engineer, Data scientist, Business Intelligence Specialist, Cybersecurity Manager, among many others.

The 33 credit online curriculum will accommodate candidates from a variety of undergraduate backgrounds in related technical fields, and even has options for those with non-technical backgrounds. "For those students," noted Jones, "we offer a four-course pre-requisite sequence that will prepare them to be successful in the degree program." This admission flexibility combined with the online modality will allow students to complete the program in as little as 18 months.
