S.T.A.R. (Students Taking Active Responsibility)
S.T.A.R. (Students Taking Active Responsibility)
is the community service
organization of Coastal Carolina University. S.T.A.R. provides opportunities throughout the year for
students, faculty, and staff to make an impact on the community.
In addition to great feeling it gives you to help others, community services tells prospective
employers that you are a team player, that you care about the community and that you can take
initiative and solve problems. Community Service experience is now being required by many graduate schools,
including law schools and medical schools.
Past Organization that S.T.A.R has worked with included:
- United Way
- American Red Cross
- Horry County Shelter Home
- March of Dimes
Every Spring Break S.T.A.R. plans a Habitat for Humanity trip. Locations have included:
- Long Beach, Calif.
- Vero Beach, Fla.
- New Orleans, La.
- Miami, Fla.
