Pi Sigma Alpha
Coastal Carolina University Phi Rho Chapter
Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, is the only honor society for college students of political science and government in the United States. The purpose of the organization is to stimulate scholarship and intellectual interest in political science.
The Phi Rho chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha at Coastal Carolina University exists not only to recognize those students who attain the highest standards of scholarship in the discipline of political science, but also to provide a forum for a university-wide dialogue on politics, society, and the importance of good citizenship in our communities, states, and our nation.
Membership is open to all political science majors and minors with at least 10 semester hours of coursework in political science. Students must have maintained an average of “B” or higher in all political science courses. Application for membership may be made at the beginning of each academic semester. Membership dues in the total of $40 include a lifetime membership fee of $30 and an annual local chapter fee of $10. An induction ceremony is held in the Fall semester of each year.
Pi Sigma Alpha is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS) and is designated as a "Specialized, Upper-Division" society by ACHS. There are now over 658 chapters of Pi Sigma Alpha located on college and university campuses in every state of the United States and in Guam.
