CCU Presidential Search

Information

The Presidential Search Advisory Committee seeks to identify and recruit highly qualified and diverse candidates for the next president of Coastal Carolina University. The Board of Trustees will select the university’s third president, to succeed President David A. DeCenzo at the end of his term on June 30, 2021.

The Board of Trustees has retained the services of Buffkin/Baker, a global executive search firm, to assist in the search process.

A series of listening sessions with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the public, collected input from CCU constituencies on the qualities and characteristics they hope to see in a new president. Feedback from the sessions, together with input from the Presidential Search Advisory Committee, will aid in the development of the leadership profile utilized to attract candidates.

Presidential Search Updates

Sept. 25, 2020
The Board of Trustees convened on June 22 and the following motion passed: "We have had an intense and thorough search for the next president of Coastal Carolina University. This search culminated in several rounds of vetting. I believe based on these sessions, that one candidate has risen to the top of our deliberations. Therefore, I move that the Compensation Committee of the board of trustees along with our Board Chairman William Biggs negotiate contractual terms of employment with candidate E to be the next president of Coastal Carolina University with the goal of having a contract ready for board approval as soon as practical.”

The timeline has been revised and the CCU Board of Trustees is in the process of evaluating the candidates determined through the interviews with the Search Advisory Committee.
