Faculty Pay Schedule
Office of the Provost
DATE: April 6, 2010
TO: Deans, Associate Deans, Department Chairs
FROM: Sallie Clarkson, Associate Provost
SUBJECT: AY 2010-2011 Faculty Payroll Schedule
Please refer to this payroll schedule for faculty during academic year 2010/2011 as developed in cooperation with Payroll and Human Resources.
For all new hires, including new teaching associates, please submit only paper PAFs.
For personnel previously employed by CCU, please use the electronic Workflow systems, as appropriate:
- Summer Faculty Workflow
- Dual Workflow
- Teaching Associate Workflow
Regular academic year hires start/end dates must be listed as:
August 16, 2010 – May 15, 2011
January 3, 2011 – May 15, 2011
In order to meet the Human Resources and Payroll deadlines, each Department must allow enough time for all paperwork to be processed by the Provost Office and returned to the Department, the offer letter signed by the employee, and all paperwork sent to Human Resources.
For all new hires, including new teaching associates, each department must submit the following completed documents as a packet to the Office of the Provost:
- Request - Hire Faculty/Unclassified Employee or Teaching Associate offer letter
- PAF (Personnel Action Form) The PAF must include all transcript information, including date original transcript requested, if not attached.
- Curriculum vitae
- Letter of application
- Letters of recommendation from references
- Transcripts from all degrees
Incomplete hiring packets will not be accepted by the Dean/Director or the Provost’s Office.
Although unofficial transcripts can be forwarded, official transcripts must be on file in the Office of the Provost prior to the faculty member being placed on the payroll.
Additional paperwork, such as the I-9, W-4, Nepotism policy exception, or related memos of approval, etc. must be received in HREO before the faculty member or teaching associate begins work.
Once signed/approved by the Provost, paperwork/e-forms will be returned to the Department. All TAs must sign the offer letter prepared by your office. It is the Department’s responsibility to complete the hiring process, submitting paperwork to HREO by the deadlines indicated in the following chart, in order to meet the designated payroll dates.
The chart below is based on the academic calendar and relates to teaching compensation dates. For non-teaching compensation (grants, extra comp, etc) refer to the Payroll schedule for deadline dates and allow sufficient time for Provost’s Office processing.

For summer, prepare separate Summer Slotted Faculty Employment (SFSEF) E-forms, when both ‘extra compensation, non-teaching duties’ and ‘teaching’ are to be performed.
- For example, administrative duties are Extra Compensation on one SFSEF E-form and teaching is on another SFSEF E-form.
Remember that the official start date on May SFSEFs or special projects must be May 16, 2011. Refer to regulations regarding maximum of 30% total compensation for teaching in the summer and the daily rate restrictions.
