Lifeguard Training Dates:

Become an ARC Lifeguard

Spring 2016:

February 5-7

March 18-20

Typical Weekend Class Schedule:

Friday: 5 pm - 9 pm

Saturday: 8 am - 6 pm

Sunday: 8 am - 6 pm 

This American Red Cross Lifeguarding course will train the participants in all the skills and techniques necessary to become a professional lifeguard over the course of a weekend. This training course is intended for those who seek a certification for the first time or for those who are renewing their certification. There will be videos, demonstrations, as well as hands on experience. The class covers equipment based rescues, spinal injury management and post – rescue care. Participants will also learn how to interact with the public. 

*The First day of class, all lifeguard candidates will swim 300 yards, tread water for 2 minutes without the use of hands, and complete a 10lb brick retrieval test. These must be successfully completed to remain in the course. 

  The class is limited to 12 participants per session. If there is low enrollment in any program we reserve the the right to cancel the course. If this takes place you will be able to transfer into another course or receive a refund. 

To reserve your spot in the class there is $25 non - refundable fee which will be applied to the cost of the class after passing the pre - requisites.

Adult and Child CPR/AED/ First Aid Certification

CPR 

This American Red Cross course provides certification in Adult and Child CPR, AED and First Aid You will learn how to correctly use an Automated External Defibrillator to aid in cardiac emergencies. This class is intended for those who seek a certification for the first time or for those who are renewing their certification. There will be videos, demonstrations, as well as hands on experience. You must be on time to participate in this class. This class will be held in HTC studio 2 from 9:00am-1pm. Class time may vary based on number of participants.

Lifeguard Instructor Certification

 

Lifeguard Instructor CertificationSpring 2016:

February 12th, 13th, 14th, 20th, 21st 

Take the next step and become a Lifeguard Instructor. Candidates who successfully complete the course will be certified to teach Lifeguard Training classes and other related certification classes. Candidate must be at least 17 years old, possess a current American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED or equivalent certification from another organization to register for this course. This is a blended learning course consisting of online segments as well as in class sessions.

Water Safety Instructor Course

Water Safety Instructor LogoThis certification will train instructor candidates to teach water safety, including the Basic Water Rescue and Personal Water Safety courses, six levels of Learn-to-Swim, three levels of Preschool Aquatics and two levels of Parent and Child Aquatics.

Pre requisites: Must be at least 16 years of age on or before the final scheduled session of the course. Must be able to swim at a level 4 ability for the following skills; front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and side stroke for 25 yards, butterfly for 15 yards, maintain position on back for one minute in deep water (floating or sculling), and tread water for one minute.

Course dates are To Be Announced Classes will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5pm-7:30pm.
