Swim Lessons

The American Red Cross offers six comprehensive course levels that teach you and your child how to swim skillfully and safely. At Coastal Carolina University we offer 5 of the levels in the Learn-to-Swim program and two classes for Preschool ages 3-5.  To help streamline the process of evaluating your child and to take the confusion out of registration, the first day of class will be an evaluation day for all students.

If you are uncertain of what lesson time to register for, please contact Mark Miller at 349-6453.

Instructor to participant ratio is 1 Instructor and 1 assistant per 10 kids.   We reserve the right to cancel lessons if there are less than 6 participants registered. Each level of Learn-to-Swim includes training in basic water safety and helping a swimmer in distress in addition to the skills outlined.

Crocs Junior Swim Team

The Coastal Carolina Crocs Junior Swim Team is open to ages 6-18 years old. We offer a great way for participants to enhance their swimming skills and become more involved in a competitive environment. Our focus is a fun, learning atmosphere where individuals can build endurance and refine their strokes. Our staff provides instruction on stroke technique and refinement. All participants must be able to swim at least 25 yards (1 length of the pool) using at least one of the competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke or butterfly). Please understand our staff is here to help refine strokes, not teach basic skills. If your child is not ready for this team environment, we suggest our
American Red Cross Learn to Swim program.

Practices involve endurance training, skill-specific events & stroke refinement.
Recommended swim suit is a one piece. Goggles are required.

Inclement Weather

There will be practices held through rain and heavy storms, but NOT lightning! We will make every effort to keep the schedule, however, in the event of lightning swimmers must exit the pool for at least 30 minutes after the last streak of lightning is seen. It will be up to the coaches and parents as to whether the swimmers will attend practice

The cost for the Junior Swim Team covers the expenses of staff, end of season party and costs to cover the coach’s hourly rates. Swim meet registrations are not covered in the registration fee and swim meets are optional. Team swim suit are also optional and are not covered in the cost of registration.

If you have any questions, please contact Mark Miller at 349-6453
