Sport Clubs @ CCU
The Sport Club program at Coastal Carolina University is designed to provide a competitive alternative between varsity athletics and intramural sports. Sport Clubs are opportunities for students, faculty and staff to participate in a variety of sports and recreational activities. Each group is organized and maintained by students under the direction of a full-time staff member of the Department of Campus Recreation. A sport club is a registered student organization formed by students with a common interest in a sport activity which exists to compete and promote and develop interest in that particular sport. Clubs my be instructional, recreational, competitive, or some combination thereof. Characterized by being student-initiated and student-managed, the basic structure of clubs allows members numerous opportunities for leadership and decision-making.The actual success and strength of a club is dependent on effective leadership of the officers and the degree of involvement of the club members and faculty advisor(s).

You will need to download the following:

Registration Part II
Please read the above documents and follow the instructions CAREFULLY. The club formation process does take time, so we ask for your patience. We are here to answer any of your questions and to help you at any point. Good luck!
1. Fill out the intent to organize form (Registration Part I). This form gives you SIX weeks to advertise and hold meetings to recruit members. You are NOT allowed to hold events (only advertising and general meetings are permitted). If you are a sport club, you need to get the approval of the Campus Recreation Office (Williams-Brice Recreation Center).
2. Find ten members interested in your organization.(Registration Part II) and complete the Membership Roster.
3. Find a full time faculty or staff member willing to be your adviser. (Registration Part II)
4. Write a constitution. If you are associated with an off-campus organization (such as a national organization), you must ALSO submit the off-campus organization’s constitution. (Requirements & Sample Constitution)
5. Complete the rest of Registration Part II packet
6. Next, there is an approval process. The Sport Club Coordinator will read and approve (or disapprove) the constitution, request a budget and all of Registration Part II packet to ensure its proper completion.
7. Student Government Association Recognition. Once all forms have been completed and approved, your organization will be given a date to appear before SGA for recognition. The recognition of your club/organization will be submitted to the Student Senate for consideration. It will be presented as new business during their meeting and will be voted on at the following meeting. Once approved, the club is an officially recognized student organization entitled to all rights and privileges afforded to all recognized organizations.
8. You will receive a “Welcome Letter” from the Dean of Students office.
9. Have a meeting with a Sport Club Coordinator. The purpose of the meeting it to discuss the general rules and policies of being a club on campus.
