Spring 2014 Outdoor Tours & Workshops

‌‌Stand Up Paddleboard Conway River

* Space is limited for all activities based on equipment 

Ocean Paddleboard Workshop - Sunday April 6th 3pm-5pm 

This 2-Hour Paddleboard workshop will have you cruising through the ocean waves.  Cost: $15.00 for 2 hours workshop. CCU students, faculty, staff register online at: http://www.coastal.edu/recreation/store/

Please note:

Participants must provide their own transportation to the beach. We will meet near Spring Maid pier in Myrtle Beach.

Participants should understand that the water will be cold and they will get wet.  Wetsuits or rash guards are recommended, as well as a towel and change of clothes for after the workshop.

Trip is based on weather and water conditions.

 

Paddleboard Workshop Waccamaw River - Sunday April 133h  (times below)

Register for this 1.5-Hour Paddleboard workshop on the Waccamaw River. Great for beginners the Waccamaw River is an easy place to learn how to use a Stand-up Paddleboard in flat, calm waters.  Cost: $11 for hour and a half workshop.

Workshop Times:

Workshop #1: 10:00am-11:30am

Workshop #2: 11:45am-1:15pm

Workshop #3: 1:30pm-2:00pm 

 

Mountain Bike Rides

Join us for weekly mountain bike rides Fridays at 3:30pm. No registration is necessary.  Meet at the Outdoor Center in the HTC Student Rec Center, ready to ride.  Free Mountain Bike rentals are available for these rides. Participants can rent or bring their own bike. Helmets are required. Mountain bike rides require a basic level of fitness. Riders should be able to complete a 7-8 mile bike ride. 

 

Hike the Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge

Join us for weekly Hikes through the beautiful trails of the Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge, Wednesdays at 3:30pm. No registration is necessary. Meet at the Wildlife Refuge trailhead off of Jackson Bluff Road. You can walk, ride, or drive to the trailehead located near University Place.

Directions: Turn onto Jackson Bluff Road at the Gullies Shell gas station. Drive past University Place & Grand Strand Water and Sewer. Continue straight past the water retention ponds on the left. You will see a sign that reads ” End of State Road Maintenance.” Drive straight and the pavement will begin to get a little rough. Go past the creek and look for the trailhead entrance and parking area on the left.

 

Surf Lessons – Saturday May 3rd at 10am-12pm

Join the instructors from Island Inspired for surf lessons at Spring Maid Pier. Great for beginners or those who want to perfect their skills.  Cost: $11 for CCU Students, Faculty, & Staff. CCU students, faculty, staff register online at: http://www.coastal.edu/recreation/store/
