Submission Guidelines

The Journal of Political Science (JoPS) is a refereed scholarly journal publishing original research in all areas of political science. We welcome articles with various methodological approaches. Each article that is initially approved by our editor will undergo "double-blind," anonymous peer review.

The submitted paper should not be under consideration by another publication. The author(s) should include the following statement on the cover page of the submitted paper:

“The author states that this manuscript has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere.”

All submissions must be in Microsoft Word (either .doc or .docx format) and be sent electronically to jops@coastal.edu. Manuscripts should not exceed 10,000 words (including notes, references, appendixes, tables, and figures). The paper should start with an abstract of about 100-150 words. All details of the author’s institutional affiliation, contact information, brief biographical description (no more than 40 words), and any acknowledgements should be included on a separate cover sheet. Authors should not include any information that may indicate their identity in other parts of the paper.

All submissions must follow the APSA style manual. All the text, footnotes, bibliographic citations, and appendix materials in a manuscript must be double-spaced and printed in Times New Roman, 12-point font. Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be printed as separate sheets at the end of the manuscript. Tables and figures should be consecutively numbers. Each table and figure must have a heading, and be referred to in corresponding locations in the text.

JoPS welcomes international submissions. Authors whose native language is not English might consider professional editing assistance to refine their manuscripts.

Replication Policy: For empirical research with data sets, it is the author’s responsibility to address the issue of data availability and replication in the first footnote.
