Downloads and Patches
Students should be familiar with the University's
Computer Usage Policies & Procedures.
University Computer Usage Policies & Procedures require students to have an
anti-virus software (such as Norton Antivirus) installed on their
computers. Coastal Carolina University offers free anti-virus software to students currently enrolled.
Please follow this link for information on downloading
Symantec Norton Anti-Virus.
University Computer Policies also require students to run Windows Updates on
their computers to prevent virus infections and the spread of viruses to other
computers on the network.
Click here for more information on
Windows Updates and instructions on running it.
In addition, it is necessary to ensure that students' personal computers are
free of any adware/spyware. Adware/spyware is any technology that aids in
gathering information about a person or organization without their knowledge.
Some symptoms include an increased number of popups while browsing the internet,
various “search” and “tool” bars being added to the
internet browser unexpectedly, and reduced computer performance.

how to prevent it.
