To meet its objective to educate future social justice leaders, the SJRI promotes engaged and critical thinking that connects classroom knowledge with hands-on experience through interdisciplinary academic programs and other opportunities for growth.
Experiential learning classes in sociology have been developed to support this objective. A summer workshop is also held annually to inform and educate new students about social justice.
“There must exist a paradigm, a practical model for social change that includes an understanding of ways to transform consciousness that are linked to efforts to transform structures.”
