& Percussion Pre-Camps Because of the special technical demands placed on the Percussion
and Colorguard sections of the band, students who wish to be considered
for these groups must attend pre-camp sessions. Click below for

If you have completed an ONLINE
INTEREST FORM, or a hard copy INTEREST FORM, and indicated you
are interested in Percussion or Colorguard, you will be contacted
about the details concerning Pre-Camp.

2008 FULL BAND
CAMP
The 2008 Spirit of the Chanticleer Band Camp will occur August 10-16.
Specific reporting times are located on the Schedule
Page.
Camp is vital to the preparation for the upcoming Coastal Football
season. The pre-game, the first show, and much of the material used
throughout the season are taught during camp. It is imperative that
anyone wishing to be part of the performing roster of the Spirit
of the Chanticleer attend camp. If you have a situation that might
prevent you from attending camp, contact Spirit staff immediately.
Only under extraordinary circumstances will a student be excused
from band camp.
Here are answers to frequently asked questions
about Full Band Camp:
Band Camp is held on the campus of Coastal Carolina University.
University Residence Halls are not officially open at the
beginning of camp, but Spirit students may move in early through
special arrangements made with Housing & Residence Life.
There is no cost to the students for the early move-in. Please
contact Pat Porpiglia in the Office of Residence Life at 843-349-6400
for more information.
Band members are excused from Orientation activities
scheduled during band camp. After Band Camp is over,
Band members are expected to participate in all regular Orientation
sessions.
There are no fees associated with Full Band Camp.
Band Camp begins promptly at noon each day (M-F) and concludes
at 10pm. An evening break will be given for dinner (on your
own).
There is no storage area for holding furniture and personal
items until permanent housing opens.
Meals are not provided during
any Band Camps. Students should budget for three meals a day
throughout Band Camp.
2008 End-of-Camp Ceremony & Beach
Band Blowout
At the end of Band Camp, Spirit members mark the passing
of Band Camp and entering into regular membership through the End-of-Camp
Ceremony held in the evening on Friday during the last day of Camp.
On the next day (Saturday), the Band makes it's annual trek to Huntington
Beach State Park for section pictures, practice on the beach, and
enjoying the surf. And, of course, there's plenty of food for everyone!
