To become a 2008 Twirler,
you must audition on May 3, 2008 or by special appointment. If you
successfully pass the audition, you must :
- Attend Band
Camp.
- Be a student who has been admitted to CCU or HGTC.
- Have registered via the Online
Interest Form on the marching band website as a returning
or new member:

Twirler Audition Information
ELIGIBILITY:
Eligibility is limited to students enrolled at Coastal or incoming freshmen
who have already been accepted for admittance to CCU for the 2008 fall
semester. (HGTC students may also be considered. Proficiency on a musical
instrument is not a prerequisite.
AUDITION INFORMATION::
1. You must fill out an Online
Interest Form to reserve your audition placement.
2. Twirlers will audition individually with their own choreographed routine
to music of their choosing. Bring your tape or CD labeled with your name
and cued to the appropriate place.
3. The routine should be between 1:30-2:00 minute dance twirl type routine
consisting of one and two baton tricks emphasizing the full extent of
your twirling ability. Twirling ability, well developed technique, great
showmanship and personality projection are the most important factors
in the audition.
4. Appearance is an important factor in the selection process. Fix hair
and make-up as you would for any other performance. Auditionees are required
to wear a costume or form-fitting outfit.
5. Auditions are closed to the public - no parents allowed.
6.
Candidates may be asked to perform multiple times throughout the audition
process.
7. Coastal Carolina University does not have featured or individual twirlers.
Successful candidates will be placed in the Twirl Line.
8. A final roster will be announced at the conclusion of the auditions.
All results are final as they are announced.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I can't make it to the Spring
auditions?
If you cannot make the auditions, you must contact Auxiliary Coordinator
Laura Card. You will be asked
to audition by special arrangments on a date prior to Band Camp. But
we MUST hear from you so that we will know to expect your audition
at a different time.
If I am selected, will I be able to receive credit for band?
Yes. All Band members receive one-hour credit by registering for MUS
124M.
If I am selected, do I have to participate
in all performances of the CCU Marching Band?
YES! You are expected to participate in all rehearsals
and performances. You will also be expected to follow and adhere to
all rules, policies, and procedures in the Spirit of the Chanticleer
Marching Band Handbook.
Is there financial assistance for twirlers?
YES! Each twirler will receive a $240 Marching Band Stipend.
Are there any fees associated with being
in the Band or a Twirler?
Each Twirler will be required to purchase some additional items. This
information will be distributed at the auditions. All travel and hotels
for out-of- state games are funded by CCU.
