Dwayne Beam, M.Ed, ATC
Associate Athletics Director for Student-athlete Services and Adminstration
Dwayne Beam was named associate athletics director for student-athlete services and adminstration at Coastal Carolina University in June 2015. He had previously served as the University's assistant athletics director for sports performance.
Beam was promoted to the head of the University's sports performance efforts in 2010 after serving as head athletic trainer since 2006. The Office of Sports Performance was established in 2010 to unite the university's athletic training operations with the strength and conditioning program. In addition to his supervisory responsibilities for the division, he provided direct athletic training support for the men's basketball program.
Beam is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and Mid Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association, and holds current certification from the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control. He has served on district committee to revise the organizational bylaws and constitution.
He is also an adjunct instructor in the university's Department of Kinesiology, Recreation and Sports Studies, where he teaches EXSS 330: Injury Management. In addition, Beam served on the university-wide SACS accreditation team in 2011 and he was a contributor in support of the university's successful NCAA Cycle 3 Recertification awarded in 2011.
He has been with Chanticleer Athletics since 2001 and served as assistant athletic trainer from 2001-2005. Beam served as the head athletic trainer at Longwood University in 2001. From 1997-2000, he was the head athletic trainer at Belmont Abbey College, where he also served as an adjunct instructor teaching athletic training courses as part of the internship program.
A native of Shelby, N.C., Beam received a master's degree from East Carolina University in 1997. While studying at East Carolina, he held a graduate assistantship with primary focus on the football program. He received a bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University in 1994.
Dwayne and his wife, Stacey have two daughters; Hannah and Lindsey. They live in Myrtle Beach.
