Federal law requires that any excess Parent PLUS Loan funds be returned to the parent unless the parent designated on the loan application that any excess funds are to be returned to the student directly (including to a bank account in the student's name). A parent may change his/her Parent PLUS Loan designation at studentloans.gov.
