The mission of the
Technology in Education to Advance Learning (TEAL) Technology Lab is to
develop consulting relationships with faculty members from all academic
disciplines at Coastal Carolina University to improve student learning
by integrating technology in the teaching process.
Our facilities in
Baxley Hall (formerly called University Hall) provide faculty and other teaching staff an opportunity
to explore technology-based teaching. TEAL staff members can assist with
- technology training
and support
- teaching strategies
using technology
- course planning
and assessment
- course management
for WebCT, Coastal's online course tool
- development of
instructional materials
- development of
faculty web sites and web site maintenance training
- reviews of new
technology products
The TEAL Technology
Lab offers
- computers with
Internet access, Office 2003 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Publisher),
Studio MX 2004 (Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, and Freehand), Acrobat,
and Respondus (UHAL 221)
- studio computers
with Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, ImageReady, After Effects, and
Camtasia for art, video, and audio creation and editing
- laptops
on a first-come, first-served basis for your and students' use in
technology-enhanced classes
- a text and art
scanner (to request scanning of copyright material for use in your class,
please fill out a Material
Copy Request and a Job Request Form)
- a digital camera
and digital video camera for signout (to sign out a camera for your
course use, please fill out an Equipment
7-Day Signout Agreement)
- VHS-to-DVD transfer
of non-copyrighted instructional materials with video/DVD recorder
- one-on-one and
group training on software and hardware, including
smart classroom and videoconferencing classroom hardware
