Monica Bell

Monica Bell has worked extensively in the professional theatre for the last twenty years. She has appeared in over seventy productions and directed many works in both the academic and professional arenas.   Credits include; ten years as a company member and artistic associate with the Alabama Shakespeare  Festival  and  four  years as a company member with the Utah Shakespeare Festival. Other regional credits; The Pittsburgh Public, the Huntington theatre, Pioneer Memorial Theatre, Madison Repertory Theatre, Great Lakes Theatre Festival, Syracuse Stage, The Porthouse Theatre, The Warehouse Theatre, The Chautauqua Conservatory Theatre, Studio Arena, New Mexico Repertory Theatre, The Moving Poets Theatre and The North Carolina Shakespeare Festival. New York credits include; Invention for Fathers and Sons (premiere) at the American Jewish Theatre and How it Hangs atthe West Side Arts Theatre. Monica specializes in the rigorous training of Tadashi Suzuki and worked with the Suzuki Company both in the States and abroad where she appeared in his productions of Clytemnestra,  and The Bacchae. She alsoassisted Mr. Suzuki with his production of The Tale of Lear.

Film and Television: Feature Film , Everything Relative (Sundance Film Festival), Episodics, Law &Order (ABC) and A Perfect  Minute with Martha (Comedy Central).

Monica is an Assistant Professor of Theatre. She holds a BFA in Theatre and Cinema from Denison University and an MFA from the University of Wisconsin/Milwaukee – Professional Theatre Training Program.

Steve Earnest

Steve Earnest is an Associate Professor of Theater.  A member of SAG and AEA, he has worked professionally as an actor with Performance Riverside (CA), The Burt Reynolds Theatre, The Jupiter Theatre, Candlelight Pavilion Dinner Theatre, The Colorado Shakespeare Festival and the Riverside Theatre of Vero Beach, among others. Professional directing credits include Singin’ in the Rain, Big River, and Meet Me in St. Louis at the Palm Canyon Theatre in Palm Springs, California and Musicale at Whitehall ’06 at the Flagler Museum in Palm Beach.  He has taught at several universities, including California State University, San Bernardino, the University of West Georgia and Palm Beach Atlantic University.  He holds a Ph.D. in Theatre from the University of Colorado, Boulder and an M.F.A. in Musical Theatre from the University of Miami, FL.

Eric Hall

Eric Hall has worked professionally in New York City designing and building costumes for stage and film.  He has worked regionally at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Santa Fe Opera, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and Glimmerglass Opera.  Recent summer projects include working on costumes for Xanadu (Helen Hayes Theatre), and building bustles for A Midsummer Night's Dream (Shakespeare in the Park).  MFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.

Jennifer Lent

Professor Lent holds a B.A. in Theater from The College of William & Mary in Virginia and an M.F.A. in Performance and Choreography from Florida State University. She has performed for six years with Busch Gardens Entertainment Williamsburg and Tampa Bay. She has performed for several summer stock, dinner, and regional theatre companies. Outside the university setting Jennifer has taught dance in VA, NJ, and FL. Her work, "Oklahoma City," based on the bombing, was accepted into "Take a Chance Choreographer's Showcase" at New Dance Group Arts in NYC. Jennifer has performed two seasons with The Lost Colony and this past summer performed on tour with The Godspeed Sail which celebrates the 400th Anniversary of America (this year at Jamestown, VA). Jennifer also performs as a vocalist/dancer for Legends in Concert, Surfside Beach.

Ken Martin

Kenneth J. Martin is a Scenic and Lighting Designer and Chair of the Department of Theatre at Coastal Carolina University.  Ken has worked in the professional theatre for over 25 years.  As a member of United Scenic Artists, his design work has been seen from The Sacramento Theatre Company to Surflight Theatre in New Jersey, Theatre by the Sea in Rhode Island and the Florida Rep.   In the academic arena, Ken has served in a variety of capacities for the United States Institute for Theatre Technology and the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.  Ken has been teaching for 14 years while keeping active in regional professional theatre.  Ken is a member of United Scenic Artists.

Aaron Michael McAllister

Aaron Michael McAllister (Musical Theatre): Proudly comes to Coastal Carolina University having musically directed and conducted some 35 musicals and cabarets in both professional and educational theatre. Recent projects include Crazy For You, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Forever Plaid, Urinetown, The Thing About Men, The Boyfriend, The Cradle Will Rock, The Boys From Syracuse, A Chorus Line, Guys and Dolls, Pippin, Evita, Merrily We Roll Along, The Fantasticks, CATS, among others.

As a professional vocal coach, he has had the pleasure of working with talented actors in NYC, Boston, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta; many of whom are enjoying successful professional careers on Broadway, National tours, and at some of the finest regional theatres in the country. He has taught Musical Theatre Repertoire, Scene Study, Musical Theatre History, and Theory Skills while on the faculty at Coastal Carolina University, Queens College, The Savannah College of Art and Design, and the Walnut Hill School of the Arts.

A member of NATS and the AFM, Aaron is a highly sought after musical theatre performance clinician and pedagogue and has composed, arranged, and orchestrated numerous cabaret, solo, and showcase performances. Together with collaborator/playwright, Daryl Lisa Fazio, he has just finished his new musical entitled LIFT and has begun work on their new musical POPART. He holds a B.A. in vocal performance and conducting from the State University of New York at Geneseo and a M.M. in Conducting from the University of Maryland.

Robin Edwards Russell

Robin received her Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from the University of South Carolina. She also did a one-year professional internship at the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, D.C . Productions for the Shakespeare Theatre included Richard III with Stacey Keach, Othello with Avery Brooks, Andre Braugher, and Fuente Ovejuna with Josie De Guzman. She also toured an adaptation of As You Like It directed by Daniel Fish through the Washington,D.C. schools.

Robin is especially proud to teach at her alma mater where she received her undergraduate degree. She is also the host and lead public relations personality for Coastal Today. Coastal Today is a lively half-hour look at what’s happening on campus, including interviews with student, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the University. The show airs 21 times per week on HCT, Time Warner Cable and SCETV.

Sandi Shackelford

Sandi Shackelford earned an MFA in Acting from Southern Methodist University and studied for two summers at the National Theatre of Great Britain.  Professional stage credits include productions at The Alley Theatre in Houston, the Philadelphia Drama League, Riverside Shakespeare Co.in NYC, and the Delaware Theatre Company.  Film and television credits include Sleeping with the Enemy, New Best Friend, White Squall, Unsolved Mysteries and Touched by an Angel.  She is artistic director and principle performer for Girl Thing Productions, a touring theatre company.

Melissa-Anne Blizzard Hall

Melissa-Anne received her B.A. in Theatre Arts from Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, PA.  She has worked as the Assistant Costume Shop Manager at the Williamstown Theatre Festival and Allan Albert Productions where they construct costumes for Hershey Park in Pennsylvania.  She then worked at Barbara Matera Limited in New York City where she constructed costumes for The Lion King, Aida, Spamalot, and Wicked to name a few.  She also had the opportunity to work as an assistant to William Ivey Long on Hairspray and The Producers first national tour.  During the last two summers Melissa-Anne has been the Costumer for the outdoor drama, The Lost Colony, in North Carolina.

John Stephen Toney

Stephen is returning to Coastal after finishing his M.F.A. in Lighting Design and Technical Direction at the University of Memphis. In Memphis he was the Lighting Designer for various production including House & Garden, Into the Woods, and Everyman. Before moving to Memphis he worked in the Myrtle Beach, S.C. area with The Gatlin Brothers, All American Music Theatre, The Crook & Chase Theatre and The Magic of Allan Valentine. While in Myrtle Beach, he received his B.A. from Coastal Carolina University. In Addition to Lighting Design, he has worked for many years as a Technical Director and Stage Manger, but lighting has always been his passion.

Thom Penn

Thom is an Adjunct Professor of Theatre at Coastal Carolina University. He has an MFA from Southern Methodist University and has appeared regionally at Sugarloaf Mountain Amphitheatre in Chillicothe, Ohio; Trustus in Columbia, South Carolina; the Dallas Theater Center, Kitchen Dog Theatre, the Shakespeare Festival of Dallas, Theatre Three and WaterTower Theater in Dallas, Texas; and the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. You may have seen Thom's work as a Fight Choreographer in CCU's recent productions of Hamlet, I Hate Hamlet, Batboy: The Musical, A Streetcar Named Desire and Cabaret. He made his CCU directing debut with last season's opening production of Moon over Buffalo. A certifiable Shakespeare freak, Thom received a prestigious 2000 Leon Rabin Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of the villain Iago in Othello. Thom is committed to arts education and believes in the power of the arts to enrich and revitalize a community. As the Artistic Director of SaltWater Repertory Theatre, he hopes to contribute to the growth of an artistic tradition here on the Grand Strand.

Kris Rau McIntyre

Kristi Rau McIntyre is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, where in 2001 she obtained her Master of Fine Arts Degree in Acting. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree form North Carolina State University in Raleigh in the field of Communication with an emphasis in Theatre. Some of her favorite credentials include three seasons at Theatre Virginia where she was in the world premiere of Ralph Allen's musical Scandals with Dick Van Patten, Umbilical Discord and The Time of Your Life at Hodges Theatre, and Hamlet at CCU.

Dawn Drake

Dawn Drake was trained in the Professional Theater Training Program of University of Delaware.  She has worked as a professional theater technician at Utah Shakespearean Festival, Santa Fe Opera, Surflight Theater, Hartford Stage, and Off-Broadway.  She has worked with magnet schools to share the “dark side of the the curtain” with many students of varying degree of skills.
