Coastal Carolina University's 2008 - 2013 Strategic Plan, entitled "Tradition, Integrity, Excellence: Building a Comprehensive University," seeks to enable Coastal Carolina University to realize its vision of becoming the public comprehensive university of choice in South Carolina. The plan's emphasis on meeting educational needs and ensuring success for students, faculty, and staff, while ensuring financial viability and managed growth focuses efforts and resources on desired outcomes and deliver the quality bachelor's and master's programs that are the hallmarks of an outstanding comprehensive university.

The University Committee on Strategic Management annually reviews and assesses the Strategic Plan to assure its continuing relevance to the University, with particular emphasis on institutional quality and student outcomes, and to recommend, if applicable, changes in implementation of the plan.

The Office of Institutional Research and Assessment provides quality information and analysis services that support decision-making, strategic planning, accreditation, assessment, and records management activities of the University. The Office is responsible for data collection, analysis, administration, and dissemination, for providing management information, and for completing federal and state reporting requirements and specialized information requests.
