Dr. Eldred "Wink" Prince Jr.

      His history of the tobacco industry, Long Green: The Rise and Fall of Tobacco in South Carolina, was published by the University of Georgia Press in 2000. The South Carolina Historical Society accorded Long Green the prestigious George C. Rogers Award for the Best Book of South Carolina History in 2001. Prof. Prince was an Associate Editor of the South Carolina Encyclopedia Project. Renowned for his skills as a lecturer, he is one of the most popular teachers on campus. Dr. Prince loves cooking, Motown music, and hanging out at the beach. Dr. Prince was appointed direct of the Waccamaw Center for Cultural & Historical Studies in 2008.
