  •  How do I contact my academic advisor?

You can contact your advisor via email, phone, or text by using the online directory. You can also utilize the plan and schedule tool contains an advisor section, which provides several tools for communicating with your advisor.  

  • How do I find out who my academic advisor is for my program?

    The Plan & Schedule tool in Self-Service contains an advisor section with the names of your advisors.

    • How do I change my major?

      To change your major, contact your academic advisor and visit coastal.edu/studentforms. Select "Change of Academic Program," and your request will be processed by the Office of the Registrar.

      • How do I add a class?

        If it is during the first week of classes, you can add classes on your own through Self-Service. The first week of classes is known as the free add/drop period. After the first week, visit coastal.edu/studentforms and complete the "Special Permission to Enroll and/or Drop Class(es)" form to request to drop or add a class. This form will be approved or denied by your advisor, by the chair of the course(s) you are requesting to add, and by the dean of your college if you are going into academic overload with the addition of a class.

        • How do I add a class if the class is closed?

          To add a closed class, visit coastal.edu/studentforms and complete the "Special Permission to Enroll and/or Drop Class(es)" form to request to drop or add a class. This form will be approved or denied by your advisor, by the chair of the course(s) you are requesting to add, and by the dean of your college if you are going into academic overload with the addition of a class.

          • How do I drop a class?

              • How many credit hours do I need to be classified as a Sophomore? Junior? Senior?

                Freshman: 0-29

                  Sophomore: 30-59

                    Junior: 60-89

                      Senior: 90+

                      • How do I access my grades?

                        Visit Self-Service and click on the grades link to view grades.  

                        • I took a course at another school. Does it count toward my program at CCU?

                          You must contact your advisor to determine if the course has transfer equivalence.

                          • I want to take a course at another college/university. What do I have to do to make sure it will count toward my program at Coastal Carolina University?

                            You must receive approval prior to taking the class at another institution. Contact your advisor to receive more information regarding the required paperwork. In order to view the transfer equivalency, visit https://www.coastal.edu/admissions/transfer/transfercred/http://www.collegetransfer.net/, and http://www.sctrac.org/

                            • How do I find my Degree Audit (My Progress)?

                              Log in to Self-Service and access the "Plan and Schedule" section of your account. Here you will see a link titled “My Progress”.  This will let you view your degree audit. 

                              • How do I find my four-year plan?

                                Go to Four-Year Plans, select your catalog year, and then click your major with the appropriate concentration.

                                • How do I search for Fall/Spring I or II classes?

                                  Log in to Self-Service and in the "Course Catalog" section, you can search for courses. Here you would select the designated term, and then under the “Course Type” box, you can select Fall/Spring II. To further filter the list, choose a subject and/or course number.

                                  • Where is the Registrar’s Office?

                                    Using the Campus Map, locate Baxley Hall. The registrar’s office is located on the second floor of Baxley Hall in room 222.

                                    • How can I find out when I graduate? Or, determine if I will graduate on time?

                                      Please use the appropriate Four-Year Plans that correlate to your correct catalog year to track your progress and determine how many classes you have left until graduation. Be sure to make note of all the course prerequisites and that you are staying on track. For assistance or more information, contact your academic advisor or visit Wall 233. 

                                      • How do I know when my advisor has walk-in hours?

                                        Walk-in hours for advisors vary each semester. In order to get the most accurate times, you have three options. You can visit the advising office in Wall 233 and ask the student worker, email your advisor, or text the Ask an Advisor service that is offered for Business students and someone will get back to you promptly. The number for Ask an Advisor is 843-349-4187.

                                        • How do I apply for graduation?

                                        You must apply for graduation via WebAdvisor under the section Academic Planning, then click on the link that says “Apply for Graduation.” Once you click on the link, it will walk you through the process. Before you apply for graduation, you need to make sure your program evaluation (also available via WebAdvisor) says “Pending Anticipated Completion” on the front page.
