Founder, president and CEO, Health Information Associates • • •
A registered health information administrator and founder, president and CEO of Health Information Associates in Myrtle Beach, Betsy Bailey has served at the helm of HIA since 1992 when she and her father, Deane Beamer, founded the organization. Since its inception, HIA has partnered with hundreds of hospitals nationwide to provide customized comprehensive healthcare coding, compliance reviews and educational support services. HIA’s attention to individual client needs has led to the type of long-term and mutually beneficial partnerships that her company shares with its clients. Prior to 1992, Bailey held the position of Director of Health Information Manager (HIM) at two hospitals in Virginia.
In a healthcare business that focuses on numbers, her business philosophy is to look beyond the numbers and apply effective services to ensure both the reliability of data and the smooth financial operations of the healthcare operation. Her company’s website refers to their business as “the people behind the numbers.” That philosophy has been their formula for over two decades of success. Bailey understands clients’ changing needs. One could say she is the navigator of HIA’s family corporate culture that retains strong employees who take pride in their work.
Bailey extends her interests to philanthropic work as well. Through HIA Outreach, her company builds on the good works that many of her staff, clients, and industry peers have already begun through financial contributions. From identifying families in need to supporting free health clinics, the opportunities are endless. Employees are encouraged to become directly involved in their home communities by providing a pledge of HIA financial support. And nationally, HIA is committed to matching employee contributions to a selected charity each year. Through HIA's Charity Matching Campaign, the company has assisted organizations such as St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, the ASPCA, Kids Alive International, and Be the Match Foundation.
Bailey earned a bachelor’s degree in health information management from Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Medicine (formerly the Medical College of Virginia - MCV).
