Rosalind Osgood is Inspiring Women's Luncheon speaker

26 March 2014Women in Philanthropy and Leadership for Coastal Carolina University will host educator and humanitarian Rosalind Osgood, Ph.D., for its Inspiring Women's Luncheon for WIPL members and their guests on Wednesday, March 26 at 11:30 a.m. in the Kline Hospitality Suite on campus. Osgood has served as a minister, social worker and teacher in Broward County, Fla., for 20 years. She is the founder of Dr. Rosalind Osgood Ministries International and the Women Reaching Women Word Network International Prayer Ministry.

A native of Broward County, Osgood is a graduate of Fort Lauderdale High School and a single mother of three adult children, all college graduates. She has earned a master’s degree and doctoral degree in public administration from Nova Southeastern University and a Master of Divinity degree from New Orleans Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. She is also the author of “The Story Behind the Story,” a multicultural, multigenerational approach to women’s issues. 

Osgood is the president/CEO of Mount Olive Development Corporation (MODCO), a faith-based organization created to revitalize low-and moderate-income communities. Committed to community improvement, she is the former public policy chair for both the Broward County and State of Florida branches of the American Association of University Women. Osgood has served four years as a member of the Substance Abuse Advisory Board for Broward County, two years on the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Advisory Board for the City of Fort Lauderdale and the board of directors for the Broward Coalition for the Homeless. In 2013, Osgood became the first female chaplain for the City of Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

In 2010, she was awarded the Bank of America Local Heroes Award and the Friends of the Broward County Library Community Service Award. In 2009, she was inducted into the Broward County Women’s Hall of Fame and was awarded the JM Families African American Achievers Award for community service. In 2005, Osgood was honored as an “Outstanding Citizen” by the Sistrunk Festival Parade Committee. 

Her motto is “Overcome Obstacles by Optimizing Opportunities and Obtaining Outstanding Outcomes,” and her goal is to create opportunities for children.
