WIPL scholars recognized for fall academic achievement

Of the 25 Coastal Carolina University students who received WIPL scholarships for 2013-2014, 19 (or 76 percent) have been named to the President’s List or the Dean’s List for the fall 2013 semester.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must earn a 3.5 grade point average (3.25 for freshmen). To qualify for the President's List, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average. Grade point averages are calculated on a 4.0 scale.

Carolyn Kirby, a senior early childhood education major from Bennettsville, S.C.

Alexandria L. Miller, a junior English major from Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Kalin Brooke Mixon, a junior early childhood education major from Hemingway, S.C.

Rayne E. Newswanger, a sophomore marine science major from Hegins, Pa.

In addition, scholarship recipient NyRhonda D. Nixon from Georgetown, S.C., graduated with honors, magna cum laude, in December with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education.
