Meet the Coordinator
Scott Pleasant first began working in writing centers as a graduate student at East Tennessee State University and Auburn University in the early 1990s. He has served as the Coordinator of the Coastal Carolina University Writing Center since August of 2010. During that time, Scott has also taught courses in the First Year Experience and the Interdisciplinary Studies programs as well as some courses for the English Department. An active member of the International Writing Center Association, Scott regularly presents at state, regional, and national meetings of writing center professionals.
Before taking the WC Coordinator position, Scott served as a lecturer in the CCU English Department from 2004-2010. He taught freshman composition, sophomore literature, technical writing, business and professional writing, Shakespeare, British Literature, and songwriting courses during his time as a lecturer. Scott has also been involved in a number of productions by the Theatre Department at Coastal. He has served as musical director and composer for several plays that included music.
Scott strongly believes in the power of a well-run writing center to help individual students and shape the culture of writing at an institution of higher learning. If you have ideas for the CCU Writing Center (for example, a workshop topic or a resource that the Center could take advantage of), please don't hesitate to contact Scott at firstname.lastname@example.org or 843-349-4154.
